Trip Timeline 2026 - Mission Kenya

December 31, 2025 - NYE Arrival in Nairobi

Arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on New Year's Eve. What a way to ring in the new year! Met our host and settled into our base in Karen, a beautiful suburb of Nairobi. First impressions of Kenya - warm weather, friendly people, and vibrant colors everywhere.

January 1-2, 2026 - Settling In

Explored the Karen neighborhood and visited the local market. Got our first taste of Kenyan cuisine - ugali, sukuma wiki, and nyama choma. Started planning our volunteer work schedule for the weeks ahead.

January 3-5, 2026 - Alfajiri Mission

Began our volunteer work at Alfajiri Mission in Kibera. Helped set up computer labs and taught basic computer skills to children and young adults. The enthusiasm of the students was incredible - they were eager to learn despite challenging conditions.

January 5, 2026 - Exploring Kibera

Spent time walking through Kibera, getting to know the community and understanding their needs. The resilience and joy of the people here is truly inspiring.

January 8-9, 2026 - Community Work

Continued our work with the local community, focusing on computer training and technical support. Built stronger relationships with the people we're here to help.

January 10, 2026 - Visiting Jay Classic in Awasi

Took a 6-hour bus ride west to Awasi to meet Jay Classic, a talented local musician. Recorded some of his music and helped him set up social media to share his talent with the world.

January 19-21, 2026 - Sammy's Farm in Meru

Traveled northeast to the Meru region near Mount Kenya to visit Sammy the Farmer. Learned about sustainable farming practices and helped with farm work.
